DeadEnd Alleycat 2

Welcome to the DEADend Alleycat

What’s really good peeps of the culture! Yesterday we at Cat 6 Chismes hosted the 2nd annual DeadEnd Alleycat. What a perfect day Mother Nature gave us here in NYC. The start took place once again by the bike entrance of the 59 bridge (Manhattan side). This year the crew did not play any games as it was a 2pm hard start. Gotta change the game if you know what we mean.

We had a great turn out as we had almost 30 people in attendance including those who raced, helped out with checkpoints and those there just to spectate and have fun with the chismosos. 2pm hit and Gabe sent them off. Racers in confusion went to Spokesman Cycles to get the manifest only no one was there. In what would have been a great April Fools prank, Jason was waiting with manifest at the Roosevelt Ferry. Racers finally saw and made contact with Jason and the race was officially underway.

Jason and Gabe planned the manifest together and made the checkpoints form a 6 in Manhattan. Racers dash and sprinted from Circles Lines down to lower Manhattan, back up to Harlem, and finally ended in El Barrios 113th and 2nd ave.

We had no idea when doing the manifest that the 2nd Women March would coincide with the date of the alleycat (shouts to all identifying women). This was mayhem for the racers as they had to cross the march twice.

We decided to hit the midway checkpoint to hangout and get a feel as to who were in contention. We get a call from Frank and Pedro who held down the LES checkpoint that Alex and James were 1 and 2 moving. As we get excited to see them arriving Jason checks the gram and see James upload a vid of him getting a flat. We are crushed to see young Macay get his second flat in back to back Deadend Alleycats. Come out next year, third time is the charm.

We see Alex pull up all a lone and with the ill lead on the rest of the pack. Routing and being lucky was the key to the victory. Alex is off for the second time to deal with the march.

The rest of the squad started heading to the finish to see when Alex will arrive. When Alex does show up he comes in with an incomplete manifest since his phone died before he could take the selfie at Riverbank State Park. Jason gave him the dreadful news of having to go back and take the selfie. Shouts to Tyler who lent his battery pack to an exhausted Alex and Alex was off again.

We start receiving news that more people are showing up to the check point before Riverbank. We start to wonder if Alex still has this in the bag. Minutes later we see Alex pulling up again this time with phone and photo in hand.

Alex is your Deadend Alleycat 2 champ. What an amazing day for the community and for those who participated. Super shouts to Chrome and Sun&Air/King Kog for hooking up the race with swag.
