NSFL LATE WINTER EDITION

With the start of February came the start of Not So Friendly Laps hosted by Corey the Courier. If you dont know what NSFL is then you are clearly missing out. Its a unsanctioned race that takes place in Prospect and Central parks. Unfortunately we have yet to race in central park 🤔. Brooklynites not willing to travel I guess. Every Tuesday and Thursday for the month of February you can catch some of New Yorks best and realist cyclists racing it out in the frigid cold.

This Past Thursday we had the third installment of the series. I was on a mission. It was below freezing outside the park which only means its way colder in the park. 920pm rolled around and racers take the line. I was especially hyped when I saw two of my rivals pull up.

Corey said GO and they were off. First lap had Dazie Holt Jacksonville native pulling the entire field. Once the blood and legs started flowing constant lead changes were happening. I threw an early attack and was able to break away from the field. A minute into the break, I was caught by the hard working trio of Doug, a cop, and Vincent. I was displeased with this, started to work with them in attempts to catch them sleeping again.

On the third lap I time a perfect attack on the climb in Prospect Park. Not looking back once, I was able to build another gap but this time only Vince was able to catch a wheel. Vince and I started taking turns pulling and increased the gap with every lap. Lap 4 15sec gap, lap 5 30 second, lap 6 50sec, it didnt seem like that gap was big enough. Coming into the downhill I asked Tijon and Kenji how big the gap was? They yell back ya already won! This was not enough for me as I started sprinting. The race was now only between Vince and me.

Coming into the final lap Vince went for the Prime which left a slight opening. Knowing Vince would have to recover after the Prime, this was the opportunity to seize the race. I launched another attack and was gone!

Congrats to Vince and Doug for podium as well as happy birthday to Doug.
